Hyun Woo (Steve) Lee currently serves as Vice President of the AI Data Center (AI DC) Development Office at SK Telecom, Korea’s leading telecommunications and AI company. Since 2018, he has been leading SK Telecom’s AI data center development initiatives, overseeing global partnerships, technology acquisition, business model innovation, and inorganic growth strategies that underpin the company’s AI infrastructure roadmap.
Since joining SK Telecom in 1999, Mr. Lee has accumulated more than two decades of leadership experience spanning mobile network operations, global business development, and strategic investment. He began his career in SK Telecom’s Global Roaming Business Team, where he played a pivotal role in achieving the world’s first CDMA international roaming service connecting Korea, China, and Japan in 2002 — a landmark achievement that demonstrated SK Telecom’s technological leadership in the mobile era.
From 2009, he joined the Inorganic Growth Team at SK Telecom, where he has since led a wide range of mergers and acquisitions, equity investments, and global partnership projects, significantly contributing to the company’s corporate growth and strategic diversification.
Between 2015 and 2019, he served as Head of Business Development at SK Telecom’s Malaysia Office, spearheading investment and partnership initiatives across Southeast Asia in the resources, ICT, and digital platform sectors. His experience in both investment and operational leadership has positioned him as a key figure driving SK Telecom’s entry into new growth areas such as AI infrastructure and data center development.
Mr. Lee holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Sogang University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Yonsei University.
